Children are weighed at school in reception (age 4–5) and year 6 (age 10–11) through the National Child Measurement Programme. In Redbridge, about 9.3% of reception children (340 children) and 23.1% of year-6 children (860 children) live with obesity. Population cut-offs used for tracking differ from clinical thresholds for individual children. We describe the numbers factually and avoid language that stigmatises children or families.
