Terms and accuracy.

Healthcards presents published statistics in a simpler form. Please read how far you can rely on them.

Accuracy

  • Every figure is taken from a published official source and is shown with its own period, and where available its confidence interval, so you can judge it.
  • We take care to compile and calculate correctly, and the numbers are checked against the source. Even so, errors and omissions are not impossible — in transcription, in conversion, or in how a source itself has been revised.
  • Statistics are area-level estimates, not counts of individuals, and are subject to the limitations the original publisher states.
  • Boundaries, reporting periods and definitions differ between indicators and can change between releases, so figures from different cards are not always directly comparable.

Check the source before relying on a number

  • For an exact or official figure, use the original statistical release, or ask the local authority or the health body responsible for that area.
  • Our figures should be very close to those sources, and any differences are usually down to rounding, a later revision, or a different reporting period — but treat the source as the authority, not this site.
  • Do not use this site for a decision that hinges on an exact number without confirming it at source.

No liability

  • The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose or freedom from error.
  • We are not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, cost or consequence arising from use of, or reliance on, the information here, including decisions taken on the basis of it, or from any interruption or unavailability of the site.
  • Nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis or a statement of personal risk. Speak to a qualified clinician about your own health.
  • The content describes places, not people, and makes no causal claims about any individual.

Using the site

  • Underlying statistics are Crown copyright, used under the Open Government Licence; credit the original publishers when you reuse them.
  • Linking to any page is welcome. Do not present our pages as official government or NHS output, and do not alter figures in a way that misleads.
  • Do not use the site in a way that damages it or interferes with other visitors.
